I’ve been dealing with some noise coming from the front end of one of my ZDXs, and after checking it out, I discovered the top mount bushings on the struts were completely shot. Instead of just fixing the issue, I decided it was time to experiment a bit and lower the car properly with coilovers.
After some digging, I found a brand called SF Racing, not super well-known, but they make coilovers specifically for the ZDX. I was a little hesitant since I’d never heard of them, but for $999, I figured it was worth a shot.
Here’s the breakdown so far:
Installation: fit perfectly and bolted on without any major issues.
Adjustability: The coilovers are fully adjustable for both damper and height, which made fine-tuning the setup pretty straightforward.
Ride quality: Out of the box, the ride felt a bit bumpy, but after dialing in the damper settings, I found a sweet spot. The ride is firmer than stock (as expected), but honestly, it feels fantastic, sporty without being harsh.
Handling: This is where the ZDX really shines now. Compared to stock, the handling feels much tighter, and cornering is just a blast, even with the stock 19” wheels.
If anyone’s been thinking about lowering their ZDX or upgrading the suspension, I’d definitely recommend checking out SF Racing’s coilovers. It’s been a fun project, and the car feels like a whole new beast on the road.
