We just bought a ZDX a few days ago, and while we’re really enjoying it so far, I’ve been reading mixed reviews online. Some people are calling it “junk” because it’s based on GM’s platform, which supposedly doesn’t meet Acura’s usual standards. At the same time, I see a lot of praise for the Cadillac Lyriq, which is built on the same platform. So, what gives?

For anyone who’s spent time with the ZDX, what are your honest thoughts? Are there specific aspects where it doesn’t hold up, or do you think it’s just internet chatter? I’m genuinely curious why the same platform gets love for the Lyriq but criticism for the ZDX.

We got a great deal, $20k + $5.5k off, so I couldn’t resist jumping on it, especially after upgrading from our 20-year-old Honda Pilot. That said, now I’m wondering if I rushed into it. Should I be worried, or should I just enjoy the car and not overthink the opinions online? What do you like about the car, what could be better, and how does it compare to other EVs you’ve considered?

I'm quite happy with my Acura ZDX overall. The ride quality and interior design are impressive. However, I was a bit disappointed by the build quality, which didn't meet my expectations. I'm concerned about the long-term resale value of the car, especially if I decide to sell it in a few years. However, we were able to purchase it for a significant discount, so I'm not too worried.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase, but it's important to consider the potential resale value, especially for a newer model.

The Lyric is a nice car, we almost bought it. We got the Acura instead, very late July. A-Spec RWD. We intended to buy but got our best deal by leasing and then buying out the lease. We saved $15k. I'm a bit dismayed to hear the price discounts have become even larger but oh well.

The ride quality is great, I like the interior a lot. The exterior is the car's weak point. I'll agree about build quality issues however. This is where the GM roots show. We just got an interior rattle fixed as well, hoping the fix is permanent. Overall however, we are quite happy. It is indeed strange how the Lyric gets praised and the ZDX does not.

I worry about resale value ONLY if we get rid of this car soon. We typically buy and hold a car for 8 years or more. And if we do that here, resale value will not be my concern. I just could not resist saving a few grand on interest by buying out the lease early. Fingers crossed.

Very unhappy so far with software issues with AcuraLink, hasn't worked since we got it despite Case manager claiming fix. Ive lost 5+ hours and had an employee of mines wages for a “45min delivery” appointment.

The interior feels cheap-no sunglass holder?! Phone charger barely works maybe one in a hundred attempts-not exaggerating. Dealer claims fixed by showing their old phone working and mine worked the one time there then back to not working. Its an iphone 15 Pro-Acura seems contentious wit Apple supposedly to blame, but really?

2015 acura Tlx Sh-Awd had many of the same features if not more but now it’s just all an Android package. The visors are clunky and feel cheap. We were offered no choice but to take permaplate “protection”-worthless $1250 upgrade shoved down every buyers throat as dealer said all vehicles there have it. The leather feels cheap/plastic like, so maybe the policy is needed.

No brackets for cargo cover seems a huge oversight with the website claiming them to be there. Had to have rivet gun to install so now at lease return in forced to give them the accessory I bought after purchase.

The ride is great-especially sport mode in the Awd-A spec. My praise ends there so far. Same with lease offer being enticing but I feel duped, not the Acura I always loved. I havent done a long trip yet-have the new EV owner dread. Waiting on Tesla charger adapter since most chargers here are Tesla. To be continued.

I have the A2Z adapter for NACS DC fast charging. Get an account on the Tesla app, setup your billing information, and then lie in the app and call yourself a Lyric and that you have a NACS adapter. Now pull up to a V3 or V4 SuperCharger. Go to the Tesla app, select your charger location, select your charger name, and hit "start". The app will tell you when to plug in the car. It will charge, I've done it. It is irritating the support is not official yet because this impacts maps and route planning, but it will work. The Lyric has had it for 2 months now, don't know what is taking us so long. 3rd party routing software, like A Better Route Planner, can be used if you want.

Honestly, online reviews can be hit or miss, and a lot of the "junk" talk might just be overblown opinions. The Lyriq and ZDX share a platform, but they have different tuning, so it might just come down to personal perference. If you’re enjoyng it so far, I wouldn’t worry too much about the noise online. Every car has pros and cons but if you feel good about your purchase that’s what matters!
