I just spoke with my dealer, and they mentioned that the NACS adapter for the Acura ZDX EV should be available "later this year." While it’s great to hear it’s coming, they couldn’t provide me with a price or clarify why I might want Acura's version over a generic third-party option.

Does anyone have insights on this? My guess is that the Acura-specific adapter might allow plug-and-charge compatibility with Tesla's Supercharger network, which would be super convenient. If that’s the case, it might be worth waiting for, but I’m not entirely sure.

Would love to know what others think, especially if anyone has already used a third-party NACS adapter. Is the extra functionality (if there is any) from Acura's version worth the wait, or should I just grab a generic one now?

I’ve heard rumors, the Ultium platform will soon have access to Supercharger networks, and GM will certify third-party adapters like Lectron because Tesla's supply is insufficient to feed Ford and Rivian, let alone GM.

I'm hoping your dealer is right about later this year (which is almost done!). No idea what would be special about the Acura adapter versus a quality 3rd party, like Lectron or A2Z. But if it took the official adapter to allow plug-and-charge that would be a big deal.

I managed to get an A2Z fast-charger adapter for free from a guy from work. I've used it once, telling the Tesla app I was really a Lyric. But I'll go get the Acura version only if it does something different, or if the A2Z adapter is not "blessed" as compatible.

Regarding "the Ultium platform will soon have access to Supercharger networks", the GM versions got access way back in September. It's Honda and Acura that were, for some reason, not included in that roll-out. Just Chevy, Cadillac.

Patiently waiting....
