I’ve owned Acuras since 2005 (currently a 2005 RL and 2010 ZDX Advance). My ZDX’s telescoping steering wheel sometimes stops adjusting or doesn’t pull in. After a battery change and reset, it worked for a while, but now it won’t move up. I suspect it’s the switch. I’d prefer not to pay the dealer for this common issue. Any recent DIY solutions? Appreciate any insights

A lot of 2010 Acura ZDX owners have trouble with the telescoping steering wheel. The plastic gears inside the steering column tend to wear out, so the wheel doesn't adjust right. Usually, you have to replace the whole steering column because you can't get the gears separately, and it's a pretty complicated job. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, it's probably best to take it to your local Acura dealer and let them take care of it.

If you're comfortable with electrical stuff, you could try just connecting the wires where the switch goes to see if the motor runs. That'll tell you if the switch is the culprit before you spend money on a new one.

Thanks for the detailed info! Looks like the 2010 Acura ZDX has its own little steering wheel drama.:( I appreciate the heads-up about the plastic gears wearing out and how replacing the entire steering column is the only fix. While I’m already sweating over the cost, I guess I’ll take it to the dealer since it sounds like something only a professional can tackle without causing a scene. Appreciate the help

Yeah it is best to take your car to the dealer and let them check your car. It could be a loose connection or the steering wheel. I personally avoid the DIY stuff I am afraid I might mess it up and make it worse. Well it is money money for the dealer if this happens.

How's your telescoping steering wheel? Did your dealer figure out why it was acting up?
