Had a crazy thing happen with my old Acura base model. We got hit with a crazy rainstorm the other day, and when I popped the trunk, water just poured out of the latch area, right where the striker is! But the inside of the trunk was totally dry, which makes no sense. It's like the water is somehow getting into the latch mechanism.

Anyone else ever seen this? Any ideas on how to fix it before it starts causing rust or other headaches?

Neah, it wasn't the rain. Remember if you took it to the car washing machine. I think this is where the water got into the latch area.

That's a really strange problem water coming out of the trunk latch but the inside is dry. It probably means water is getting in somewhere else and running down to the latch. Check the rubber seals around your taillights and rear window they might be broken. Look for blocked drain holes in the trunk lid. Check around the brake light on the trunk lid too. You can try pouring water on those areas to see where it's leaking.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll take a look at those seals and drain holes. Never thought about the brake light area, so that’s definitely going on my checklist now. Hopefully it’s just something simple like that and not a bigger issue.. I’ll update once I figure it out!
