Hi, everyone!
I am thinking about upgrading to drilled rotors when it is time to replace my brakes.
Right now, my rear rotors are at 5 mm and the fronts are at 4 mm, with the new rotors being 12 mm thick.
Based on this, do you think hoping for another 10k miles of braking left before needing a replacement would be too optimistic?

Honestly, 10k miles might be a bit optimistic with those rotor measurements, especially the fronts at 4 mm. Thinner rotors can start impacting braking performance, which isn’t something you want to mess with.

Yeah it might be a bit optimistic, typically, rotors should be replaced around 3 mm thickness, but keep an eye on performance for safety.

I’d suggest replacing them sooner rather than later for safety, especially if you’re eyeing drilled rotors. They can behave a bit differently, so staying ahead of the wear could save you some trouble down the road.
